Social & affordable rent
Homes you can afford. Rights you can rely on.
Social and affordable housing in Birmingham for people who need a stable, well-managed home — not just a tenancy.

A home you can afford, with rights you can rely on.
Social housing means secure, long-term tenancies at rents set well below the local market rate. It is allocated based on housing need, not ability to pay the highest rent.
At Anchor, our social homes are managed to the same standard as our private lettings — professional repairs, clear communication and a local team that knows Birmingham.
Who can apply?
We keep our criteria clear and fair. If you are unsure whether you qualify, our team can talk it through with you.
Local connection
You need a genuine link to Birmingham — living, working, caring for family, or having a local support network in the city.
Housing need
Priority is given to people who are homeless, overcrowded, living in unsafe conditions, or need to move for medical or welfare reasons.
Income & savings
Social rent is for households who cannot afford market rent. We review income, savings and circumstances as part of the assessment.
Behaviour & tenancy history
We carry out reference checks. A history of serious rent arrears, anti-social behaviour or property damage may affect eligibility.
